Leeds-based indie folk singer songwriter Jake Whiskin has never been far from our blog since we first discovered him back at the end of 2021. With each new single release I fall in love with his music a little more. His latest is no exception. It’s called Joyride.
By Graeme Smith
Joyride is a love song but, with Jake, it’s never that straightforward. Introducing his own brand of paranoia and dry humour to the narrative, the story is beautifully rendered through his descriptive lyrics and intimate style. It’s a must-listen for fans of Phoebe Bridgers or Bright Eyes.
The track is yet more evidence that Jake is one to watch in the UK folk scene. You can give Joyride a listen below.
