How was your 2022?

2022 was good, 2023 should be bigger and better. We’ve got a few singles out and one yet to come, as well as a new album early summer, all being well. Also some festivals and gigs out and about. We’re looking forward to it.

You recently released a single titled One Horse Town. What can you tell us about the track?

One Horse Town was written as part of a big pile of songs to be considered for the upcoming album, but it sounded a bit different and had a life of its own so we decided to record it as a single. We were conscious of making it a very bold sounding record, so with it being a single so we pumped it all up a little bit. ‘Early Oasis‘ was the mantra as we recorded it and I think it came out well. Once I’d (Joe) finished writing that one and heard it, it made me think it would be lonely as a single, so I wrote a couple of other tracks to compliment it which will make up a little EP of singles, essentially.

How has the reception to One Horse Town been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

It’s been positive, it’s been very nice. There’s been a definite split in the camps of people who preferred One Horse Town, which is heavier, and those who preferred Given Rain, the latter single, which is a bit more chilled out. It’s all been good, though.

You also released another track recently called Given Rain. What can you tell us about that song?

Given Rain is the other side of the coin to One Horse Town. I said I wanted to do a kitchen sink version of Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane where it’s all a bit bleak and black and white, so that’s where the overall feel came from. I feel like it’s short changing people a bit just doing singles, so I wanted to create a bit more of a world around the tracks. The videos are black and white and they’ll end up being a little trilogy, there’s a third single to round it all off in the works.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

Yes, there’s this third single I mentioned which is again a little different from the other two. It’s more acoustic focused and there’s a beautiful string arrangement which was written by Gavin Bryars, Goole’s most famous son. It’s great that he got involved with us, it’s been an honour to speak to him and have him contribute. We’re looking forward to getting that out. That next single is called Where No Nightclub Survives.

Do you plan to release an EP or an album anytime soon?

There will be a little run of physical copies of the EP with these singles on to raise a bit of money, which will then be spent on finishing the album which is due in early summer. All new tracks on there, it will be 11/12 brand new songs making up a new album. Looking forward to getting that one finished.

Your music mixes together a few different rock/pop genres. What/who influences you most as artists? What have you been listening to recently?

We genuinely listen to so much stuff it would be endless if I started reeling them off. I’ve recently listened to the new Belle & Sebastian a fair bit – The National, I’ve had a bit of a phase with them. I’ve had The Car by Arctic Monkeys in the car CD player since that came out, I can’t lie.

You’re based in Goole. What is the music scene like in your part of the world?

It’s quiet but getting busier. There’s a few local bands coming up now – The Marbleheads, The KaleidoscopesFiona Lee is a singer-songwriter from round our way, she’s got some new stuff coming out that will be great.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

We do, they’ll all be posted to our socials and kept up to date so the best thing to do is follow us. Just search Sandra’s Wedding on your social of choice and we’ll be there.

Any last words for the fans?
