Big Dumb Baby is the performing name of Ashley Mayorquin, a Nashville, USA-based actor turned singer-songwriter who has just hit my radar courtesy of her ode to her college days. It’s called Jenny’s Place.

Jenny’s Place opens with a chilled bass groove and licks of classic rock guitar. Ashley’s vocals come in with a mesmerising charm but the true star of the show is her storytelling lyrics. You are instantly transported into the scuzzy student house she’s describing.

Big Dumb Baby has been previously described as “Shania Twain meets Pavement” and that about sums up her sound. Her debut EP is available now in all the usual places and you can check out Jenny’s Place below.
