Berlin-based, Welsh electronic pop artist Bethan Lloyd recently came onto my radar thanks to her ode to letting go, Cutting Circuits. Now she’s already back with a new one. Coming complete with a video, it’s called No Umbilical.

No Umbilical is a ’90s throwback dance track but one with a stark lyrical depth that you wouldn’t have heard on Top Of The Pops back in the day. Steeped in the philosophy of animism, Bethan delivers her poetic story with her classically-trained vocals against a rich and interesting electronic soundscape, reminiscent of Björk during her Post era.
