Thy Veils is a Romanian electronic pop outfit founded by Daniel Dorobanțu back in 1995, though they only hit my radar for the first time last month thanks to their wonderfully innovative ode to togetherness Influx. Now I’m pleased to have them back on the blog with their latest single Upstream.

Upstream opens with minimal, distorted trumpet before unfolding into a dreamy electronic soundscape and gentle percussive groove. Alira Mun’s haunting vocals come in, delivering poetic lyrics that will paint pictures in your head. As the track progresses, the complexity grows, with rises and falls in which you can be swept away.
