9 o’clock Nasty are a punk band that’s been on this blog’s radar for nearly a year now, but it was their most recent release that’s garnered them the most attention. Too Cool saw them blowing up on the UK underground scene, but they’re not resting on their laurels. They’re back with a dig at global Capitalism’s takeover of Christianity. It’s called Low Fat Jesus.
By Graeme Smith
Opening with a rumbling bass line, there’s a touch of the new wave about Low Fat Jesus but the vocals are unmistakably punk. Tongue-in-cheek lyrics don’t let up, with a message that calls out the world’s hypocrites. Through it all, though, Low Fat Jesus is catchy as hell. You’ll be chanting the chorus for the rest of the day, mark my words.
