Berlin, Germany-based collective The Trouble Notes have featured before on the blog, but not since the summer of 2021 when Jane shared their track Duke Of The Bello. A band that fuses hip-hop and bluegrass, I just had to give them a listen myself. Here’s the video for their track Banjolorian.

Opening with atmospheric percussion, you can tell straight away that Banjolorian is something special. In comes an array of strings, including the eponymous banjo, and you’re treated by something that feels country, but not as we know it. Whatever you want to call it, it’s a joyous listen.
The video gives us a performance that’s one part barn-dance, one part break-dance. You can give it a watch below.
