New Music: Occurrence – Universe Moves So Fast

Occurrence are a New York City, USA-based electronic trio who Jane has featured before on the blog. They were included in her Pride roundup in December, and she even posed them some questions in a Q&A. Now it’s my turn to check out their music. Their latest is called Universe Moves so Fast.

The track explores loss and fear but its inspiration is a little more light-hearted. Composer and lyricist Ken Urban was originally inspired by the Spanish phrase “inocente palomita que te dejaste engañar” which is usually said on April Fool’s Day when asking to borrow something you intend to steal. From these simple beginnings, Occurrence have built something profound and magical. With an electronic arrangement quite unlike anything I’ve heard before, Universe Moves so Fast is so rewarding for the careful, open-minded listener.

The track will feature on the band’s upcoming album Slow Violence and you can give it a listen below.
