Blueburst is a collaboration between guitarist and vocalist Craig Douglas Miller of The Reach, and Marty Willson-Piper of the The Church. I’ve featured them once before on the blog, last month with their debut single Vanish. The pair have now got a brand new one out called Supernova.

Supernova is, by Craig’s own admission, a paradox. Lyrically, it’s about death, but instrumentally it’s joyful, with noodling bass, marching percussion and bright guitar. Think some of the biggest pop rock hits of the ’90s, such as those of REM, and you’ll already have an idea of what to expect before you’ve listened to the first note.
Blueburst is a return to music after a 20 year hiatus for Craig, and Marty is part of the reason for that. The pair are making some beautiful music together. You can check out Supernova below.
