New Music: Lizzie Esau – Killer

Lizzie Esau is a Newcastle-based alternative rock artist who has featured on our blog a couple of times before, most recently at the beginning of the year through her confessional track Jellyfish. Now she’s back with another one that explores self-doubt. It’s called Killer.

For a song about negativity, Killer is surprisingly upbeat. A lively, guitar-led pop rock arrangement sets the early tone, while Lizzie’s vocals provide a soothing balm. Lyrically, though, Killer is largely cerebral, much like Jellyfish, speaking of Lizzie’s negative voice in her head that takes the joy out of everything.

Lizzie is currently on tour for the summer, and will be playing as part of Tramlines in Sheffield on 21 July and Bingley Weekender in Bradford on 4 August.
