Abnorm is a Newcastle-based alternative rock band who first featured on our blog through Jane’s Grunge Forever roundup at the beginning of last year. Now it’s my turn to run the rule over their music, thanks to their new single Red Lines.

Red Lines is a song about COVID, with the ‘red lines’ in its title referring to those you see on a lateral flow test. That little indicator leads to restlessness and isolation, and it’s those feelings expressed in the song’s powerful and emotional arrangement. The track alternates between hard and soft, with singer and song-writer Abbie Rose’s haunting vocals being the star of the show.
The track was co-written with Abnorm’s producer Alex McArthur. You can give it a listen below.
