Sam Casey is a Toronto, Canada-based electro pop artist who has just caught my attention thanks to her unfiltered and unapologetic new track that takes a swing at Tik Tok fame. It’s called 7 Second Superstar.

The template for 7 Second Superstar was late ’90s and early ’00s Blink-182, but Sam Casey modernises the sound, not just in terms of its lyrical story, but also its rich electronic textures. Its lyrics are cutting, but the track is also musically a banger, especially when you reaching its sweeping, anthemic rock chorus.

7 Second Superstar was co-written by Sam, Julianna Eye, and Chloe Kay. Together I think they’ve tapped into some of the weariness that modern music and social media brings. Platforms that should broaden our horizons seem to be incredibly limited in terms of diversity.
