New Music: 9 o’clock Nasty – The Gastronaut

Prolific Leicester-based alternative rockers 9 o’clock Nasty have been all over our pages recently. Yet, their latest track The Gastronaut gives us a different flavour of their sound.

By Graeme Smith

While much of what we’ve heard from 9 o’clock Nasty has been pure, unadulterated punk, The Gastronaut feels a little more experimental from them. It opens with heavy piano and drums, giving us a more post-punk composition. The lyrics speak of the fine line between food and sex, and are pure filth.

9 o’clock Nasty recorded the track in nine hours, on a boat, piano and all. Though that sounds like chaos, the result is anything but. You can give The Gastronaut a listen below.
