New Music: Kingfisher – Stand Back In

Uppsala, Sweden-based rock trio Kingfisher first hit my radar in January this year thanks to their unique track Until I Lose My Mind. Now I’m pleased to welcome them back with another single. A lament to a missing friend, it’s called Stand Back In.

Stand Back In combines a certain sadness with a vibrant rock instrumentals arrangement. Classic and modern elements swirl together to create something that feels not quite either, while expressive vocals hold your attention. Kingfisher compare their sound to the indie rock legends like The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand and Placebo, but there’s definitely something a little more old school about Stand Back In.

Kingfisher are Colombian Julian, Italian Nich and Swede Affe. For this track they’ve teamed up with rapper Anton Ånell who delivers the bridge. You can give Stand Back In a listen below.
