Malaysian electro pop artist SHN has featured a couple of times on our blog before. I originally discovered her back in 2021 thanks to her track Do Ya which was followed up at the beginning of this year with her ode to being a young adult 27 in a 7-Eleven. Now she’s back with a new nostalgic one. It’s called Britney.

The Britney in the track’s title is, of course, the legendary Britney Spears, and in Britney, SHN channels her Y2K pop energy. Yet it’s not all about imitation. We get plenty of SHN’s clever and original song writing, particularly during an anthemic, emotive chorus.

Alongside Ms. Spears, SHN gets inspiration from the likes of Taylor Swift and Lauv. Fans of those artists will definitely find a lot to love about the SHN sound.
