Cole Blu is a New York City, USA-based art rock musician who originally hails from Portland, Maine. They’ve just caught my attention thanks to their ambitious new track that channels influences that include Joanna Newsom, Kate Bush and Frank Ocean. It’s called Thundering, Blissful.
By Graeme Smith
Thundering, Blissful opens laidback and dreamy, with charismatic vocals and experimental instrumental textures. It’s a slow-grower, and provides an emotionally-rich story that unfolds gradually over eleven minutes, meandering through electronica, krautrock and minimalism. It’s truly one to switch off and get lost in.
The track features on Cole’s album Torso which is out now. The album tells the story of finding one’s way in the world, exploring themes of reinvention and alien remoteness.
