Blackpool-based singer songwriter HOL first appeared on our blog in 2020 through her pop rock track No Doubt. Since then she’s made a couple more appearances, but it’s been almost a year since we last shared her music. That’s about to change thanks to her stonking new single Lipstick Muse.
By Graeme Smith
For Lipstick Muse, HOL has taken inspiration from ’80s shoegaze bands such as Chapterhouse and Lush. The result is a vibrant, jangly, joyful piece of indie rock with dreamy vocals and prominent percussion. As ever, it’s HOL’s song writing that sets her apart, with an emotional complexity in her lyrics the defy her young age.
Lipstick Muse is HOL’s first release of this year and here’s hoping it’s not her last. It’s so great to have her back on the blog!
