Discovery: TECHNOIR

TECHNOIR are Alexandros Finizio and Jennifer Villa, two musicians based in Milan, Italy who have just caught my attention thanks to their alternative and electro soul track inspired by the ’90s Bristol trip-hop scene. It’s called Saturate.

By Graeme Smith

As you might expect from its influences, Saturate opens low and moody, with rumbling bass and meditative acoustic guitar. Soft, soulful vocals float over everything, creating a rich and interesting soundscape. It’s lyrical story explores loss, distance and human ambivalence.

Though new to us, TECHNOIR have received their fair share of praise in the underground Italian press. It feels a good moment for their unique sound to reach a wider, international audience. We’re certainly fans.

Saturate will feature on the duo’s upcoming new album AFTER MATH, set for release in October this year. You can give it a listen below.
