Hailing from Sunderland, Chloe & The Brainwaves are an alternative rock act who have just come to my attention thanks to their anti-consumerism anthem, Expensive Things.

Opening soulful and haunting, there’s a touch of Goth rock about Expensive Things that lends itself to its anti-conformity message. The track truly hits its stride during a soaring chorus where frontwoman Chloe’s vocals are at their finest, before a driving groove takes over and guides you to the track’s outcrying climax.
Expensive Things was written by Chloe Gardner & Michael Potts. It was produced, mixed and mastered by Steve Grainger and recorded at Metronome Studios, Nottingham. Backing vocals come from another York Calling favourite, Lizzie Esau. You can give it a listen below.
