London-based alternative rock band DAAY first featured on these pages in 2021 thanks to their lofty track Forever. We went on to share a couple more of their tracks, and Jane even interviewed them last Spring. Now they’re back with a new one that heralds their upcoming debut EP Cosmic Gossip. It’s called Top Heavy.
By Graeme Smith
Top Heavy throws you right in at the deep end with pleading vocals, jazzy rhythms and a sense of despair. It quickly finds its groove, keeping things experimental in a Black Star Bowie-esque way. There’s something utterly hypnotic about it all, and Alex’s charismatic vocals prove to be the icing on the cake.
DAAY are Alex Barty-King on song writing and vocals, Nick Wemyss on lead guitar, Melody Wayfare on synths, Jonathan Woods on rhythm guitar, Euan Mcguinty on bass and Max Mason on drums. Cosmic Gossip is out 30 June and you can check out Top Heavy below.
