Discovery: AnnaOtta

AnnaOtta are an electronic pop duo consisting of Spain’s Irene Novoa and Germany’s Jenny Thiele. The pair have just hit my radar thanks to their intrepid new track that’s heavy on experimentation while maintaining pop sensibilities. It’s called Similarities.

By Graeme Smith

Similarities is inspired by the words of Turkish-European writer Elif Shafak who ponders on how the universe is built on opposites rather than sames. The track wonderfully brings this sentiment to life, at once being an Avant Garde experimental piece and a compelling pop construction. Manipulated vocals layers over each other within a spacey, synthy soundscape. It’s just so beautifully inventive.

Joining the duo on the track is piano player Lucia Fumero. You can give Similiarities a listen below.
