London-based electronic pop artist Serena has featured on this blog a few times now, most recently through her rock-infused track Heartworm at the end of last year. Her latest reflects on the theme of self-empowerment and it’s called Lipstick On A Glass.

Though it goes deep, there’s a sense of lively camp about Lipstick On A Glass. In it, Serena draws influence from the likes of Bjork, Massive Attack and Gwen Stefani, taking these disparate styles and repackaging them with her own unique voice and viewpoint. The result is a punchy pop number that is quite unlike anything you’d hear in the charts.
