Hamar, Norway-based prog rock orchestra MEER first came to my attention in March this year thanks to their inventive track Bee Hive. Now I’m pleased to welcome them back to the blog with their latest single You Were A Drum.
By Graeme Smith
As you’d expect, You Were A Drum is percussion-led track. It provides a lively backdrop over which classical and electronic instrumentals are poured before soulful vocals come in. It’s a heartbreaker of a track, with powerful lyrics and a musical mix of melancholy and catharsis. Once again, MEER prove why I’m so excited by them as an act.
Both Bee Hive and You Were A Drum feature on the group’s album Playing House, which is out now. You can give You Were A Drum a listen below.
