La Biche is a nouvelle vague French artist who has just come to my attention thanks to her experimental new track and video, Combien.

Combien opens ethereal but with a sense of drama and urgency about it. Vocalisations swirl among electronic instrumentals before La Biche’s sultry and expressive vocals come in. There’s an anti-pop vibe about the arrangement. The music comes and goes, with the listener always guessing where it will go next. All I know was that I couldn’t drag my attention away from the hypnotic performance in the video.

With music in her blood, La Biche was born to a musical father and performed from a young age. As well as being a musician, she’s also a trained ballet dancer.
