I’m not usually one for cover versions, but ever so often one comes along that shines new light on the original, to the extent that I want to share it with you all. This is the case for Birmingham-based alternative pop artist Saer, and his version of The Police’s Walking On The Moon.
By Graeme Smith
Saer was inspired to update the track after the announcement of Artemis 2, NASA’s new mission to the moon. He gives the track an altogether more cosmic feel, building from acoustic and classical instrumentals that make it all feel wonderfully intimate yet cinematic. The vocals are as good as Sting in his ’80s hey day. It’s all beautiful stuff.
With acclaim from the likes of BBC 6 Radio and from across the world, Saer is definitely an artist to look out for.
