Discovery: Tea Head

Tea Head are a Philadelphia, USA-based indie rock band who have just hit my radar thanks to their new track that tells a story of letting go. It’s called Next Year

By Graeme Smith

Next Year is a track that opens delicate and acoustic before hitting an atmospheric, country-infused indie rock stride. Melancholic vocals paint a lyrical picture that combines wistfulness with a certain laissez-faire. Its emotional complexity is what makes it so fascinating.

The story of Tea Head started in 2018, founded by Joe Bucci and John Fordyce. Drummer Gabe Sagherian got involved with them shortly after before bassist John McDermott joined the party. As a four-piece they’re taking their locale by storm and, in my opinion, deserve a little international attention.

Tea Head will be coming to the UK this year, with stops in Coventry on 27 October, London the next night, Exeter on 30 October and finally just down the road in Hull on Halloween. If you like Next Year, be sure to catch them live. You can check out the track below.
