Blue Walker is a singer songwriter originally from Scotland and now based in Manchester. She’s just come to my attention thanks to her autobiographic track, Doom and Gloom.
By Graeme Smith
In Doom and Gloom, Blue draws on her experience of being in and out of therapy over a number of years. There’s a raw vulnerability to it, particularly its lyrics, but instrumentally there’s a cathartic brightness about it. After a moody first verse, we reach a bouncy, catchy groove in the chorus. It’s enough to bring a smile to your face.
Blue is inspired by contemporaries like Adele, Taylor Swift and York Calling favourite Madison Beer. If you’re a fan of any of those acts, you’re going to find a lot to love about Doom and Gloom. You can check it out below.
