MER, real name Meredith Marcum, is a New York City, USA-based singer songwriter who has just come to my attention thanks to her new track taken from her upcoming second EP Maybe I’m The Same. It’s called About The Night.

About The Night opens with intimate ambience, developing unconventionally into something recognisably folk pop but beautifully unique. Lyrically, it hits hard, painting an emotionally rich picture. Meredith wrote her new EP all alone in the wake of a heartbreak and that comes through strongly in this single release. She lays it all out there in an explosive crescendo, and the track is all the more compelling for it.

Meredith grew up in Waco, Texas listening to Fleetwood Mac and Norah Jones before moving onto contemporary pop artists like Eloise and Dijon. Maybe I’m The Same is set for release in September and you can check out About The Night below.
