Gefahrgeist is a Scotland-based duo who has just come to my attention thanks to their team up with alternative pop singer songwriter PINLIGHT. It’s called No Gravity.
By Graeme Smith
No Gravity is a simmering track. It opens ethereally, with a low electronic arrangement supporting the powerful and expressive vocals. Lyrically it speaks of escaping a toxic relationship and the song’s quiet start quickly gives way to a lively and cathartic arrangement that combines elements of modern pop and traditional folk. It’s beautiful stuff and a definite listen for fans of Björk or Christine and the Queens.
Gefahrgeist is the electronic duo of Fiona Liddell and Niall Rae. PINLIGHT is the project of Jenny Laahs. No Gravity was co-written by Fiona and Jenny and you can give it a listen below.
