Discovery: Sarah Orton

Sarah Orton is a British Columbia, Canada-based artist who has just caught my attention thanks to her love poem of a song, You. Yet, it’s not as simple as you might think at first listen.

By Graeme Smith

As Sarah explains, You is not just a love poem but, given the circumstances of her life when she wrote it, a fantasy exit. Knowing that adds a touch of bittersweetness to its vibrant disco-pop. It’s a beautifully articulated track and its groove is irresistible. Fans of Miley Cyrus’s Flowers will certainly appreciate it.

You was written by Sarah Orton, and produced by Sarah with Sam Ryan, who also did the mixing and mastering. The drums were engineered by Roger Swan, and played by Graham Tracey. Bass is by Quillan Hanley, keys by Chris Gestrin, and Sarah played guitar and performed vocals. You can give the track a listen below.
