Newcastle-based prog-rock band Crux first hit our radar in 2021 courtesy of their EP release Death at the Cash Machine. They then returned to this blog last year with their single Save Me. Now they’re back with another new one. Written during coronavirus lockdown, its lyrics explore the isolation that came with that time. It’s called Empty Home.

Crux’s new track show a softer side to the band’s sound. There’s a gentle introspection about its opening verse and its instrumentals are wonderfully melodic in its sweeping chorus. With Empty Home the band have truly captured the essence of the loneliness that came with lockdown. It’s a feeling that we want to forget but is important to remember.
Empty Home was recorded at Blank Studios and produced by Sam Grant from Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. You can give it a listen below.
