The Cookie Jar Complot are our favourite Luxembourg-based instrumental post and math rock band. They featured a few times before on this blog, going right back to early last year where we ran the rule over their EP Caviar Capital and even posed them some questions in Q&A. After a summer full of festivals they have returned with a new track. Playfully referring to a childhood football idol, it’s called Tilidin Zidane.

An ambient opening greets us in Tilidin Zidane. In true math rock style it quickly develops into a groovy, looping and jangling arrangement. Classical melodies meet with futuristic elements to create something that feels outside of our known concept of time. As the track develops, it becomes beautifully sweeping before finally hitting an almighty climax.
The Cookie Jar Complot are song writing duo Sven Schmeler and Giles Glesener. They’ve been together since 2020, uniting through a shared love of creating compelling instrumental music that you can dance to. They have a new EP on the way this year called Lobster Knife Fight. You can check out Tilidin Zidane below.
