It was a cover of The Police’s Walking On The Moon that first drew my attention to Birmingham-based vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer SAER. Now he’s back with a fresh take on another classic. His new single takes the country folk Johnny Cash song I Walk The Line and gives it a contemporary twist.
By Graeme Smith
SAER’s take on I Walk The Line brings it back to its ballad roots. A dark, cinematic composition changes the mood of the original. Melancholic piano and pleading vocals infuse it with a sense of loneliness. That emotion is amplified by the track’s accompanying animated video, directed by Paul Griffin.
Previously a contestant on The Voice UK, SAER has an increasing reputation for his innovative music which has featured on BBC Radio 6 Music and as part of a visual project to celebrate Earth Day by the auto brand Bentley.
