Jeremy Voltz was once a mathematician, but nowadays plies his trade as an indie soul artist. His sound has been compared to Jeff Buckley, Hozier and Stevie Wonder, and it’s through the title track of his new album that he’s come to my attention. It’s called Running Away.
By Graeme Smith
Running Away is an intimate track. It opens stripped-back with strummed acoustic guitar and Jeremy’s isolated, soulful vocals. There’s plenty of space for his descriptive lyrics that draw you in to its introspective story. As the track progresses, its instrumental arrangement grows, before it reaches a hopeful climax. It truly is a stunning track that showcases Jeremy’s veteran status in the world of music. He sure knows how to write a song.
You can give Running Away a listen below. The album from which it’s taken is also out now in all the usual places.
