Discovery: Seye Adelekan

Seye Adelekan is an artist who is new to us yet I have most certainly heard his work before. He is best known as the bass player with Gorillaz and Damon Albarn but has now set off on his own path. His latest track delves deep into the world of mental health and how its best to help someone when you can barely help yourself. It’s called A River.

Seye wrote A River in Iceland and in it he reflects on the feeling of trying to fix someone while broken. There is a raw and authentic emotion to the track. It opens stripped back and contemplative growing into a rich, cinematic composition. Seye’s soft and captivating vocals are certainly the highlight of the piece. Their energy had me gripped.

The track will feature on Seye’s EP of the same name. You can give A River a listen below.
