American alternative pop artist Sky Olson first caught my attention in April this year. I found his Billie Eilish and John Mayer-inspired track Lock and Key moody yet laidback and was impressed with Sky’s charismatic vocals. Fast forward to now and he’s back on the blog, this time with an indie pop song that could have been lifted straight from the ’80s. It’s called Lavender Sky.

Lavender Sky is about the end of a relationship and the catharsis that comes with letting it go. Its emotion is delivered through a reflective groove that is equal parts upbeat and melancholic. What’s for certain is that it will have you moving, and its memorable chorus will stick with you.
Sky is a multi-winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and his music has been streamed over half a million times on Spotify. On the evidence so far he certainly one to look out for.
Lavender Sky features Benton Wood on bass, piano and drums, and Rudy Coord on saxophone. You can give it a listen below.
