Sanja Cin is a Manchester-based soft pop artist who has just come to my attention thanks to her love letter to the highs and lows of dating. It’s called Hollywood.
By Graeme Smith
Sanja was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina but it was the war there that forced her family to leave the country. It was in Vienna, Austria where she grew up before she arrived in Manchester almost by mistake. It was there where she recorded her debut solo EP Bees together with Manchester-based producer Alan Keary. She now has a new EP on the way working with drummer, guitarist, and producer Rhys Jiang.
Her new song Hollywood is a groovy yet pensive pop track. The authenticity of its storytelling lyrics is instantly arresting, as are her gentle and compelling vocals. If you’re a fan of Aurora, Feist or My Brightest Diamond, you’re going to find a lot to love about her sound. I’m certainly excited to hear more from her. I hope you will be too.
