Wino Gandara is a Guatemala-based artist who has just come to my attention thanks to his unconventional and epic team up with Lukky Sparxx and Atheris Energy. It’s called The Journey.

Though there is an otherworldly quality to The Journey, its inspiration is actually a little closer to home. Mulling over our everyday struggles reaching for our dreams despite the obstacles we face, Wino hoped to capture this fight in audio and video form.

Opening with captured spoken word of inspirational quotes, the track slowly builds with cosmic energy before reaching an ’80s-style power pop groove. The vocals are wonderfully passionate and expressive especially during a soaring, cinematic chorus. A beautifully unique track, it’s inspired me to check out more of Wino Gandara’s music.
