Video: Peter Beatty – Tell Me Where To Go

Peter Beatty is a London-based singer songwriter who takes influence from the likes of Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Sufjan Stevens and Laura Viers. He’s just come to my attention with a new track and video taken from his upcoming debut album, Different Flowers. It’s called Tell Me Where To Go.

By Graeme Smith

Though new to us, Peter has already been making a splash with this song. It won the Best Song Award at the Cannes World Film Festival in July this year. Its video was also a nominee in the Best Music Video category and won the equivalent category in the London Independent Film Awards and the Los Angeles-based Independent Shorts Awards.

Tell Me Where To Go is a simmering track with an understated groove that instantly grabs you. Peter’s laidback vocals will bring a smile to your face while its image-laden lyrics will have you thinking. A tribute to adventure, self discovery and chasing love, it truly is a song that will transport you.

The track was produced by Fred Thomas of ECM Records and features vocals from London-based singer and pianist Miranda Joy. Different Flowers is set for release in January 2024 on Nightjar Recordings.
