Discovery: Laura Musgrave

Laura Musgrave is a Midlands-based artist who has only just come to my attention, but she is already making waves in the world of music. Her previous track Early Days won her the ISSA Gold Award for ‘International Female Single of the Year’ and is currently under GRAMMY-consideration. Her latest tells the story of letting go of a past relationship. It’s called Rent Free.

By Graeme Smith

Rent Free is fiery right from the off, shooting straight out the traps with an anthemic guitar riff. Laura’s expressive vocals come in. Utterly compelling, they tell a heart-breaking yet empowering story that will have you gripped. The track’s big chorus is pop rock at its finest, mixing familiar features with boundary-pushing elements.

If you like acts like HAIM, Paramore and Alanis Morrissette, then you’re definitely going to want to check Laura Musgrave out. She’s quite the songwriter, and her music is rich with authentic emotion. She’s one to watch.

Rent Free is out now via Zwold Records. You can give it a listen below.
