Kent-based alternative rock artist Estelle Mey is becoming something of a regular feature on this blog. She first came to my attention in March this year thanks to her powerful track Snake (Rejection). Two more shares of her music followed – LATE (Dino Song) and, more recently, Meteorites. Now she’s back with another cosmic one. It’s called Meteor.
By Graeme Smith
Meteor and Meteorites are, of course, linked, and part of the same EP INVERTED. Sonically, they’re similar, but Estelle is always giving us something new with her music. Big, Rush-like riffs set the early pace before her expressive vocals come in, floating above the grunginess of the instrumentals. There’s a real sense of movement about it, and you can really picture a hunk of icy rock hurtling through space as you listen.
The track was sung, composed and written by Estelle who also plays guitar, bass and keyboard. Drums are by Rob Dosset and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by DW Studios. You can give Meteor a listen below.
