Sheffield-based rock artist Mat Hook first hit my radar in September this year thanks to his track and video Runaway Road. Now he’s back with its follow up. Written in 2018 while Mat was going through a tough time, it’s called Alone You Go.

Written in the wake of losing his father, his job and his relationship, as well as struggling with depression, it’s fair to say that Alone You Go is the product of a low moment for Mat. Yet, it’s not all doom and gloom, but rather focusses on the light at the end of the tunnel. Musically it capture this sentiment perfectly, with a mix of Oasis-style melancholy with some brighter, acoustic instrumentals.
Just like Runaway Road, Alone You Go was produced by Paul Tuffs at “Tufty’s Rave Cave,” with help from Dave Howard, Sam Cotteril and Matt Dacey. The track is out this Friday, 24 November, along with a video that features a range of faces, including some well-known ones. Head to Mat Hook’s YouTube page to catch the video when it’s out.
