Leicester-based rockers and York Calling favourites 9 o’clock Nasty are back once again on the blog, this time with a new single and video that introduces hip-hop elements to their subversive sound. It’s called Unkle Natur.
By Graeme Smith
Unkle Natur reflects on our changing relationship with our home planet, replacing the kind-faced Mother Nature character with a dodgy uncle you’d rather avoid. It opens heavy and sinister, with big drums, gritty riffs and half-rapped, half-shouted vocals. It’s yet more evidence of the range that 9 o’clock Nasty have, which they manage to display without losing any of their signature characteristics.
The video sees the trio take to a claustrophobic, brick-lined corridor, performing before a strobe light (so be careful if you’re sensitive to those). You can check it out below.
