Irish artist Etaoin is no stranger to this blog, having now featured three times previously over the past few years. Her latest shows a different side to her sound, however, providing a unique spin on an all-time classic. This is her slowed down take on the Wizzard anthem I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

Myself and Christmas music have a complicated relationship. I bore of hearing the same songs again and again this time of year, but when an artist subverts the genre, I can’t get enough of it. Etaoin’s effort definitely falls in the latter category. Her stripped-back and soulful take on I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday brings a whole new meaning to the seasonal staple. Through it, too, Etaoin’s love of the holidays shines.
