Brighton-based indie rock and folk project Route 500 featured on this blog back in the Summer of 2022 and it’s taken until now for us to share some more of their music. Their latest takes us on a journey through dissociation and comes complete with a video. It’s called Island Perimeter.
By Graeme Smith
Island Perimeter opens stripped-back and reflective. The vocals are instantly captivating, utterly unique, and deliver heartfelt and poetic lyrics that meditate on mental illness. As the track progresses, its instrumental arrangement becomes lush and experimental, building to a uneasy but ethereal conclusion.
Route 500 is the project of Derek Inver and has drawn comparisons to the likes of Big Thief, The Microphones, and Radiohead. If that’s your cup of tea, definitely check out the video for Island Perimeter below.
