Beth Baines is a singer songwriter based in Toronto, Canada who has just come to my attention thanks to the release of her dreamy new single inspired by gardening. It’s called Nepeta.

Nepeta is a song about the concept of possessions, both material and immaterial, which is represented by a Nepeta plant among other imagery in Beth’s lyrics. It’s the thoughtfulness in her writing that really makes her stand out, alongside her ethereal vocals and the unconventional, cosmic richness of her instrumental arrangement. Her sound combines retro psychedelia with modern dream pop, creating something that feels utterly timeless.
Beth has previously written and recorded material for the band Dream Whip and is also known as Brushsigns. I’m very excited to hear more from her. I hope you will be too. You can check out Nepeta below.
