Bulgarian pianist and modern classical composer Maria Karakusheva has featured on this blog a couple of times before but not since 2021. Now I’m pleased to welcome her back with a new piece and video that explores life as a series of dreams. It’s called Enlightening.

The marraige of Maria’s vocals and the exotic landscape in which she plays is immediately arresting in Enlightening. It truly does transport you to a dreamworld, though one that is firmly set here on our planet. The result is intoxicating, and Maria’s playing is as expressive as I remember it to be. It’s great to have her back in these pages.
