New Music: Benedict October – Lovestruck

Berlin, Germany-based indie pop artist Benedict October has featured on these pages a few times before, most recently through his single release Insomnia a few months ago. Now he’s back with a new one that tells the story of when his parents first met. It’s called Lovestruck.

By Graeme Smith

Lovestruck transports us to the world of 1970s European dance clubs thanks to its groovy, fuzzy arrangement. In true Benedict October style, there’s also plenty of experimentation and otherworldliness. Altogether the track creates a scene familiar yet fantastical, and storytelling lyrics transport us.

The track will feature on Benedict’s upcoming second album And then the ocean, an autobiographical collection written in the wake of the death of his father and a relocation to Berlin from Amsterdam.

You can give Lovestruck a listen below.
