Soul Dementia are an independent art pop band based in New Jersey, USA who have just come to my attention thanks to the opening track on their recently released album Sounds From Rivercity. It’s called Go Go Joe.

The band is the brainchild of Tommy Tom, influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd, Brian Eno and The Mothers of Invention. Go Go Joe is a beautifully surreal track, combining off-kilter instrumental layers with captured, robotic vocals. It’s all over in less than two minutes but thanks to its complexity, it feels epic.
