Coruja Jones is a Manchester-based singer songwriter who has just hit my radar thanks to his new track and video, released at the end of last year. A live performance, shot in one take, it’s called Songs For Winter.

Having originally released Songs For Winter following the death of his father in 2016, Coruja Jones brings fresh life to the track in his new performance of it. There is an immediate sense of intimacy, right from the breathy countdown which blends seamlessly into an acoustic guitar arrangement. The vocals will grip you, and you’ll find yourself hanging on every poetic word sung.

Coruja has a new EP Undo set for release later this year, produced by Sam Vicary of the Cinematic Orchestra.

Featuring on Songs For Winter alongside Coruja is guitarist Jake Stentiford. The video was recorded by Sheffield-based Mark Lewis and Tom Dibb aka The Northern Cowboys at Yellow Arch Studios. You can check out the performance below.
